Frequently Asked Questions
C19-YRS Clinical System
What is the C19-YRS clinical system?
The C19-YRS clinical system includes a web portal for healthcare providers and a patient-facing app. It is a digital tool that allows healthcare providers to assess, track, and manage the symptoms of patients with long COVID and other long-term conditions, using validated questionnaires (PROMs). The system standardises the evaluation of physical, psychological, and cognitive symptoms over time, and removes time consuming admin tasks. The patient app enables individuals to complete these questionnaires remotely and view their own symptom trends, supporting both care management and self-awareness.
Who is C19-YRS for?
The C19-YRS tool is designed for use by patients with long COVID and other long term conditions and their healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses and rehabilitation specialists. Researchers who require the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in studies can also benefit, as the system streamlines data collection, reduces administrative tasks, and provides standardised data for long-term condition management.
How is the C19-YRS used?
Healthcare providers invite patients to complete assessments via a secure portal or during in-person consultations. Patients receive notifications when questionnaires are due, and their responses are shared with the care team for review. This process enables a collaborative approach to tracking symptoms over time.
How do I get started with the C19-YRS clinical system?
As a patient, to begin using the system, healthcare professionals need to register you through their clinical organisations. Training and support materials are available to ensure seamless onboarding.
What support is available for healthcare professionals using the C19-YRS system?
Comprehensive training resources, including user manuals and instructional videos, are available on the C19-YRS website, and the Elaros YouTube page. Additionally, a support team is on hand to provide an introduction to the system and to address any technical issues or questions related to the system’s use.
What happens to my data in the C19-YRS clinical system?
Data security is a top priority. The C19-YRS system complies with NHS data governance standards, ensuring that all patient information is securely stored and shared only with authorised healthcare providers.

Yes, the app can be used independently to track symptoms, although it’s designed to complement professional care. Regular use, particularly before healthcare appointments, helps create a clear picture of how symptoms change over time, supporting more informed discussions with your healthcare provider.
The app allows you to generate a PDF report of your symptom tracking data, which you can share with your healthcare team. This report provides insights into your symptom progression, helping your provider make more informed decisions about your care.
Your data is securely encrypted and stored in compliance with NHS data protection standards. You control who sees your information, and only authorised healthcare providers can access your data if you choose to share it with them.
The app offers general advice and self-management tips based on your symptoms, but it is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalised recommendations.
